The orientation programme for first-year students for the academic year 2023/24 started on Monday, December 11th, 2023. The opening assembly was attended by the school board chairman, the Municipal Education Directorate, the Headmaster, members of the School Management Committee, and teaching and non-teaching staff.
During the event, the Headmaster, Mr. Michael Mensah, shared the rich history of the institution and its success stories, including when it was established, its relocations, and how it ended up in its current location. He also narrated the school’s achievements in academics, sports, and other co-curricular activities. He advised the new students to stay away from undesirable behaviours that can land them in trouble. He added that, the school will provide them with the right environment and psychological support to succeed in school and life in general.
The school Board Chairman, Mr. Ernest Owusu Ansah, also shared valuable words of wisdom on discipline and achieving goals. As an old student and educationist, he was proud and appreciates what the institution has done for him and urged the students to be disciplined and work towards achieving their goals.
Ms. Juliana Krobea Asante, the Assistant Headmistress Administration, took the students through the vision, mission statement, and core values of the school. She encouraged them to be guided by the school’s core values, which aim to build a holistic individual ready for the tasks ahead in life.
Representatives from the Municipal Education Directorate, Mr. Mark Morrison (Municipal SHS Coordinator), and Mr. Andrews Sarpong (Municipal Guidance and Counselling Coordinator) advised the students to embrace their new challenges and seize the opportunity to develop academically and personally.
The orientation programme will end on Friday, December 15th, 2023.
