Overview of School
Background
Osei Kyeretwie Senior High School is the premier secondary school in the Ashanti region. It was established in the year 1937 by the late Rev. J.T. Roberts, a Sierra Leonean. The school operated under the name “Asante Collegiate” and was sited at Asafo. In September 1958, it was taken over by the Ministry of Education, but it was still under the name “Asante Collegiate”. At the beginning of the 1968/69 academic year, the school was renamed after the then Asantehene, the late Sir Osei Agyemang Prempeh II, known in private life as Barima Osei Kwame Kyeretwie. Shortly after the renaming, the school moved to a new site at Dichemso, where it embraced a massive amelioration. The rapid exponential growth in population necessitated a bigger compound. As a result, a new site was given at Old-Tafo by Otumfuo Osei Agyemang Prempeh II. The school was eventually moved to the new site (Tafo) during the 2004/2005 academic year and has been here to date.
Osei Kyeretwie Senior High School is an institution that does not focus ONLY on academic achievements but prioritizes molding and developing students fully.
